Position Title: EL1 Payroll / Project Manager
Duration: Approx 4 months (with potential to extend up to 6 months)
Location: Sydney, NSW
Hourly Pay Rate: $85.11 - $97.63 plus 12% super
ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a Federal Government agency, is seeking an experienced EL1 Payroll / Project Manager to provide high-level support during an internal audit period. The role will focus on managing payroll operations, undertaking payroll data cleansing, and assisting with the potential migration to a new payroll service provider.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, highly organised, and able to operate independently with limited supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage end-to-end payroll processes in line with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Conduct payroll data cleansing to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.

Support potential transition to a new payroll service provider, including data migration and system testing.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external providers to ensure payroll continuity.

Provide expert advice on payroll compliance and industrial instruments.

Identify and implement payroll process improvements.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated experience managing payroll in a government or complex organisational environment.

Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements.

Experience with payroll system transitions and data migration.

Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.

Proven ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Project management experience in payroll or HRIS highly desirable.
