The Opportunity
This is a short-term opportunity (3-month non-ongoing or s26 temp transfer) to lead procurement and contract management improvements in a small, agile finance team.
You will have the scope to embed practical, fit-for-purpose systems and resources that directly strengthen compliance, capability, and operational efficiency.
For an experienced APS procurement professional, it’s a chance to apply your expertise in a role with immediate, visible impact.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will:
- Lead the development of procurement and contract management resources, templates, and tools
- Design and maintain procurement, contract, and invoice registers to meet compliance and accessibility standards
- Reset and improve records management and quality assurance processes
- Develop and deliver training materials to build organisational capability
- Ensure alignment with the PGPA Act, CPRs, and related frameworks, embedding sustainable procurement practices
You will be well suited to this role if you:
- Have proven experience in procurement, contract, and vendor management in an Australian Government context
- Understand and can confidently apply the PGPA Act, CPRs, and related frameworks
- Can translate complex compliance requirements into clear, practical tools and guidance
- Thrive in environments where you work independently under broad direction
- Communicate clearly and adapt messages to suit different audiences
- Build collaborative relationships and can influence stakeholders at all levels
- Are organised, self-driven, and able to deliver quality outcomes quickly
Salary / Rate
- $126k – $163k + 15.4% Super (pro-rated for 3 months)
- Location: Canberra
- 5 hours per week, with flexible work options considered
- 3-month non-ongoing contract, with potential extension (also available as a s26 temp transfer)
