APS6 – Corporate Governance and Risk
Location: Parkes, Canberra
Type: Non-ongoing Contract or Section 26 Transfer
Security clearance: Baseline
Are you a strong critical thinker with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for governance, risk and performance? This is a great opportunity to join a respected federal agency’s Corporate Governance and Risk team in a busy and high-impact APS6 role.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across varied and interesting tasks—from managing risk and audit processes to supporting strategic reporting and committee work. You’ll play a key part in ensuring audit recommendations are actioned and that risk frameworks are implemented effectively across the agency.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate corporate performance reporting, including the Corporate Plan, Annual Report and Portfolio Budget Statements
- Track and monitor progress on internal audit recommendations, ensuring timely follow-through
- Contribute to enterprise risk and fraud framework implementation (no investigations)
- Provide sound advice and insights on emerging and operational risks
- Deliver secretariat support to key governance committees
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure governance processes are running smoothly
- Contribute to overall governance capability uplift
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
- Experience in governance, enterprise risk or internal audit (or a mix)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and multiple stakeholder expectations
- Understanding of public sector performance reporting and related frameworks
- Work closely with executive leadership on high-visibility projects
- Strong team culture and a genuinely interesting mix of responsibilities
- Flexible working arrangements in a centrally located Canberra office
- Open to non-ongoing contracts or S26 transfers

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
