Description of the job
The Assistant Director Network Operations is responsible for the day-to-date management of the Network Operations team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure supported systems maintain a high level of availability, performance, and security. You will work closely with the Director of Infrastructure Operations, providing specialist advice in the provision and operation of complex network infrastructure.
The key duties of the position include
- Development of work plans and monitoring workflows to meet objectives and timeframes.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and performance of the team and prioritisation of workloads.
- Monitor and report on the SLAs and OLAs of commercially provided services and services provided by other government agencies.
- Ensure availability, performance and capacity requirements are met for ACIC ICT, including incident management, problem resolution, and future planning requirements.
- Maintain hardware and software currency through regular maintenance of assets, development of asset replacement plans, and ensuring that appropriate and up-to-date support agreements are in place for all assets.
- Provide technical expertise and compliance around procured services in the ACIC environment in accordance with relevant procurement guidelines.
- Apply technical leadership to ensure the ICT Network remains secure in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and Agency security policy.
- Manage the technical requirements of the business including development of service improvement plans.
- Ensure that operational procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current.
- Promote the ACIC's business objectives through key strategic relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure planning is in place to provide accurate financial forecasting for budgets.
- Manage a 24x7 capability and associated team rosters.
- Lead a blended workforce of APS and contractor employees in accordance with APS values and ACIC procurement requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of or experience in the administration of complex enterprise network technologies such as CISCO, HPE, Palo Alto, FortiGate, F5 and Senetas.
- Demonstrated experience leading a high performing team of technical specialists.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to translate complex technical jargon into business terms that can be understood by a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience operating within mature ITIL-based framework.
- Tertiary qualifications in IT, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
- Vendor qualifications in Fortinet, HPE, Cisco, F5 or similar.
