Systems Engineer – Defence Maritime Projects
These roles offer the opportunity to work at the interface of capability development, systems engineering, and program execution, supporting Defence clients to shape and sustain Australia’s maritime capability.
If you have a strong technical background in Defence maritime systems, and are looking to contribute meaningfully without stepping into a senior management role, this could be the right fit.
The Opportunity
You'll join a team working on complex Defence programs across acquisition and sustainment. Projects span the One Defence Capability System lifecycle, and may include:
- Requirements definition, verification and validation planning
- Support to engineering governance and technical risk management
- Certification coordination across Navy platforms and systems
- Input into ILS, configuration, and integration planning
- Development of capability documentation and stakeholder briefings
- Regular engagement with Defence, industry, and CASG stakeholders
- Degree-qualified in Engineering (Mechanical, Systems, Electrical or related)
- At least 3 years of relevant post-grad experience in complex systems or Defence
- Previous experience working within Defence maritime programs (e.g., SEA1654, SEA2273, SEA3036, LAND8710)
- Current AGSVA NV1 security clearance (or ability to hold one)
- Excellent written communication skills and professional presentation
- Confidence navigating ambiguity and working in multidisciplinary teams
- Exposure to One Defence Capability System and associated artefacts
- Familiarity with platform certification and engineering assurance
- Experience in systems integration, combat systems or ILS
- Prior experience in a consulting or advisory role to Defence clients
