Job Description

Building Maintenance Technician

Full Time | Integrated Facilities Management

About the Opportunity

As a Building Maintenance Technician, you’ll carry out a mix of planned maintenance, reactive repairs, minor works and building fabric upkeep across the healthcare facility. You’ll work closely with other trades, FM teams and hospital staff to ensure the building remains safe, functional and compliant at all times.

This role offers exposure to a wide range of building systems and tasks — perfect for someone who enjoys hands‑on work and thrives in a dynamic environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering general building maintenance including carpentry, patching, painting and minor repairs

  • Maintaining doors, hardware, ceilings, partitions and building finishes

  • Assisting with minor trade works within your competency

  • Coordinating with specialist contractors for complex or licensed works

  • Responding to urgent maintenance issues impacting hospital operations

  • Completing building fabric inspections and asset lifecycle replacement tasks

  • Supporting planned maintenance programs and compliance activities

  • Liaising with hospital staff to minimise disruption during works

  • Ensuring all work complies with infection control and WHS requirements

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in building maintenance, handyperson or multi‑trade roles

  • Skills across basic carpentry, plastering, painting, tiling, minor repairs and general building upkeep

  • Experience in complex facilities — hospital or clinical environments highly regarded

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work autonomously

  • Ability to work safely in a highly regulated environment

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Valid driver’s licence, White Card and ability to obtain relevant clearances

Desirable skills/licences:

  • EWP / High Risk Boom

  • Basic plumbing or electrical knowledge

  • Experience with minor fit‑outs, de‑fits or small works

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights and in plant rooms

Why Join Cushman & Wakefield in Healthcare?

  • A stable, long‑term contract with ongoing career opportunities

  • Exposure to diverse building systems and maintenance tasks

  • National trade specialists, engineering support and strong safety frameworks

  • A global organisation with pathways across IFM, trades and technical services

If you’re looking for meaningful work, technical variety and a team that values your contribution, this is the place to grow.
