About the role

We have an opportunity for a Network Engineer to be part of our Network and Security Platform Services, Technology and Communication Services Command. The role implements and maintains security controls that protect NSW Police’s systems and data, ensuring secure design, risk mitigation, and compliance. By embedding security into technology platforms, it helps safeguard sensitive information and supports the organisation’s mission to uphold public safety and trust.

The Network and Security Platform Services Directorate manages and maintains the overarching connectivity and security requirements for over 550 NSWP sites.

They are responsible for the connection of users and devices to NSWPF systems, the delivery of data across the entirety of the NSWPF Network, the network management of boundaries, security and dataflow control and the control interoperability and connectivity between NSWPF applications, external services and devices.

The Senior Network Engineer provides technical advice and support on to the NSWPF projects and BAU requirements on behalf of the Network and Security Platform Services Directorate. This role is required to deploy and test; data, voice, teleconference and wi-fi networks on sites. The ideal candidate will provide operational support, troubleshooting and rectify network issues to a CCNA level.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Support and maintain Cisco network and voice infrastructure, including AV/teleconferencing systems
• Assess AV requirements and deliver standards-based solutions and specification.
• Troubleshoot network and AV issues (hardware, software, firmware, configuration)
• Provide technical advice and support across networks and AV, including on‑site installation support, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and documentation.
• Liaise with product resellers and vendors for equipment support and issue resolution.
• Deliver technical support across installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning.
• Travel to NSWPF sites as required, often for periods of several days at a time.

You will be a good fit for this role if you have:

• Open Cabling License
• Experience in a similar role providing network support for a range of Cisco and Crestron Audio Video products, and Teleconference systems, incl installation, configuration, testing/troubleshooting, and commissioning

• Demonstrated detailed knowledge and experience across a range of Teams for Windows devices including configuration installation and troubleshooting

• Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and project management skills
• Demonstrated experience in AV project management and solution design.
• Demonstrated experience in Network Topology
• Demonstrated experience in working within competing priorities and with a range of project
