School Finance Specialist
1.0 FTE Limited Tenure

Catholic Education Tasmania is seeking a highly skilled and motivated School Finance Specialist to join our School Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting financial compliance and enhancing financial systems across our shared funded schools.

Reporting to the Finance Manager: School Operations, the School Finance Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality financial and systems support to schools across Tasmania.

You will provide expert guidance to school finance staff and leadership teams, ensuring effective financial practices, system compliance, and continuous improvement of financial systems. The role also plays a key part in supporting and enhancing Financial Management Systems (TechnologyOne and Compass), including user support, training, and system development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day (BAU) support for school finance systems, including helpdesk management and query resolution
  • Support financial compliance processes including billing, debt management, and end-of-month/year reporting
  • Deliver training and coaching to school staff in TechnologyOne and Compass
  • Contribute to the development, testing, and rollout of new system modules and improvements
  • Develop user guides, training resources, and support materials
  • Conduct school visits to provide financial advice and support
  • Identify and implement process improvements across financial operations

About You

You are a proactive and confident professional who can work both autonomously and collaboratively in a complex environment. You bring:

  • Strong financial management systems experience
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • The ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across diverse settings
  • Sound judgement, discretion, and a high level of integrity
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and innovation

Essential requirements

  • Bachelor qualification in Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management systems and school financial processes
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People registration (Employment)
  • National Police Check
  • Accreditation to work in a Catholic school (or willingness to obtain)

Desirable

  • Experience with TechnologyOne and Compass
  • Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks
Additional Information

This role involves periodic intrastate travel, with occasional stays of 3–5 days to support school sites across Tasmania.
