Kinexus has partnered with the Australian Signals Directorate to assist in sourcing experienced Project Support Officers, specialising in Risk Management with current NV1 security clearances to support a complex Defence ICT Program spanning acquisition, early sustainment, and transition into service. On offer is an initial 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extensions. This role will be based on-site in Canberra (ACT), and does not offer the opportunity for candidates to upgrade their clearance.

ASD is the federal agency responsible for foreign signals intelligence, cyber warfare and information security. ASD's purpose is to defend Australia from global threats and help advance our national interests.

Operating under broad direction, the Risk Management Project Officer is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and assuring risk and benefits management documentation across the full program lifecycle. The role ensures that risks, issues, and benefits are systematically identified, analysed, and managed across multiple lifecycle stages, each with distinct technical, commercial, and operational considerations. This includes maintaining mature and auditable risk and benefits artefacts aligned with Defence governance frameworks. The Risk Management Project Officer provides specialist analysis and advice to support governance bodies, enabling informed decision-making that underpins the successful delivery, sustainment readiness, and transition of ICT capability into operational service.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance risk and benefits registers that reflect the program's hybrid lifecycle, including acquisition‑related risks, sustainment dependencies, and transition‑to‑operations considerations.
  • Assess legacy risks and benefits to ensure they remain relevant as the program moves from acquisition into operational acceptance and sustainment.
  • Conduct and facilitate workshops with stakeholders, coordinating the reviews and assessments on the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls for the project's risks, issues and benefits.
  • Support transition planning by identifying risks and benefits associated with operational readiness, training, support arrangements, and handover to sustainment organisations.
  • Prepare briefs, dashboards, and reports for governance forums and assurance activities.
  • Provide specialist advice to project staff and stakeholders on risk and benefits management practices.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or modernise risk and benefits processes, particularly where legacy practices no longer suit the program's current maturity or lifecycle stage.
  • Exercise sound judgement and operate with a high degree of autonomy in a complex, multi‑phase program environment.
