Be the Difference in Emergency & Critical Care
The world of emergency and critical care (ECC) veterinary medicine has been waiting for YOU to be its next great advocate!
Canberra Veterinary Emergency Service (CVES) is looking for a casual Client Care Representative (CCR) to join our amazing and friendly team. If you’re compassionate, calm under pressure, and find meaning in helping others through some of their most challenging moments — this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
About CVES Every day at CVES brings something new. Our hospital is open 6 PM – 8 AM on weekdays and 24 hours on weekends and public holidays, providing emergency and critical care to pets when they need it most.
We’re proud to be a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming team made up of people from all walks of life. We thrive on the differences each team member brings — background, experience, and perspective — because our strength lies in our variety.
CVES is recognised throughout Canberra for our professionalism, compassion, and genuine care — for both animals and people.
Your Role: What You’ll Do As a Client Care Representative, you’ll be an essential part of our hospital, supporting clients and patients across the front-of-hospital — not just the reception. Your days will be unpredictable, rewarding, and meaningful.
Key responsibilities include:
- Being the first point of contact for clients experiencing emergencies — over the phone and in person
- Supporting the clinical team through accurate data entry, triage communication, and administrative assistance
- Assisting clients with their financial journeys at CVES
- Providing comfort and care during end-of-life appointments with empathy and dignity
- Maintaining a calm, professional, and welcoming environment across the front of hospital
- Caring, compassionate, and dependable
- Calm and professional under pressure
- Empathetic and confident in communication
- Organised and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-paced setting
- You don’t need prior veterinary experience — we’ll provide ECC-specific training. What matters most is your emotional intelligence, genuine empathy for people and animals, and your ability to stay composed in emotionally charged situations.
At AEA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We foster workplaces where team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow. From structured training and wellbeing programs to national career development opportunities, we’re building the future of emergency veterinary care — together.
