Job Senior Project Engineer, Canberra

Join one of Australia’s most exciting infrastructure projects – the Canberra Light Rail expansion. We’re seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer with a strong background in utilities coordination, telecommunications, drainage, and electrical/underground service works to play a key role in delivering this landmark transport project.
About the Role As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and delivering complex service relocation and installation works, ensuring integration across multiple disciplines in a live urban environment. Working closely with the Project Manager and broader delivery team, you’ll provide technical expertise, lead subcontractor performance, and maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of utilities, drainage, telecommunications, and electrical infrastructure associated with the light rail corridor.
• Manage design coordination, approvals, and interface with authorities and service providers.
• Lead subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and reporting.
• Identify and manage risks related to underground service clashes and construction sequencing.
• Ensure quality documentation, ITPs, and as-built records are maintained and submitted on time.

• Degree in Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
• Proven experience delivering major civil infrastructure or rail projects involving utilities and services.
• Strong technical understanding of telecommunications, electrical, drainage, and underground service construction.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead teams and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
